How Does Search-Up! Site Work?
Search-Up! Site works by slightly re-organizing and re-writing the text on your web site to be more understandable to Google, without changing the grammar or meaning for your visitors. Then Search-Up! Site goes to work on the code of your web site itself by making it semantically correct.
Semantics?
Absolutely! To understand the idea of semantically correct code, there are two things to understand:
- Web sites have code that defines what something is (e.g. that a block of text is a paragraph)
- Google only sees your web site's code, not what you see (to get an idea of what Google sees, right click on your web site and select the View Source option. Quite a difference!)
So, when Google looks at your web site, it's counting on the code to tell it what's important and what isn't (otherwise it's forced to guess). If you code is semantically correct, you're talking Google's language.
A Quick Example
Imagine the following: You are writing a Word document and you want to make a heading. Do you select the Heading 1 option from the Styles menu, or do you just bold it and make the font a bit bigger? Us too. It looks the same and it's way easier! The same thing is commonly done with web sites.
In Word, the bold vs. heading scenario is no problem - we just print it and it looks great. If we're looking at web sites, though, there's more going on: Now Google doesn't see a heading, it just sees some bolded text. Since Google heavily favours words in headings, web sites built like this don't do as well in Google searches.
